Why United need to drop one of their three strikers

Why United need to drop one of their three strikers
25.09.2014 22:41
Manchester United started with a front three of Radamel Falcao, Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney in the 5-3 defeat against Leicester City at the weekend.

On paper it is one of the most feared strike-forces in world football and that’s not even mentioning Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj, who were both confined to the bench, or record signing Angel Di Maria, who played a starring role from a deeper midfield role before being substituted late in the game. The Red Devils’ frailties at the back and lack of depth in key defensive areas have been well-documented in the aftermath of this latest humiliation but Louis Van Gaal faces a very different task in the attacking third, working out which front three will work best in United’s flexible diamond formation. He is spoilt for choice in that area and it appears near impossible to fit all their firepower into one system.Falcao is one of the most complete strikers in world football. Despite having just returned from a serious knee injury, the Colombian is feared by defences and has very few weaknesses to his game. He has the pace and power to beat a man, can dominate aerial duels against the strongest of defenders and is the ultimate predator when inside the penalty area. A quick glance at his goal-scoring record at all of his previous clubs proves this. For example, his last season at Atletico Madrid, the year before that knee injury saw his World Cup dream dashed, he scored 28 goals in 34 games at a near 30 per cent conversion rate. It means that the 28-year-old new signing should take up one of the roles up front as he is ridiculously clinical.(uk.eurosport.yahoo.com)Bakudaily.Az
