A  Penn State Abington study has revealed that 78per cent of heterosexual women between 20 and 68 years old believe that love makes sex physically more satisfying.Only 18per cent of women interviewed said that love was unnecessary for a fulfilling sexual relationship. Sociologist Beth Montemurro asked 95 women in New York, New Jersy and Pennsylvania from a range of backgrounds whether they believed love was necessary for maximum satisfaction in both sexual relationships and marriage. 'Women said that they connected love with sex and that love actually enhanced the physical experience of sex,' said Beth Montemurro at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association.Ms Montemurro explained that when women are in love with their sexual partners, there is less inhibition and more willingness to explore sexuality. She added that in addition to feeling greater sexual urgencies, the women trusted their partners.'When women feel love, they may feel greater sexual agency because they not only trust their partners but because they feel that it is OK to have sex when love is present,' said Ms Montemurro, adding that the connection between emotions and sex may be a result of how women are socialized to see sex as an expression of love.'On one hand, the media may seem to show that casual sex is OK, but at the same time, movies and television, especially, tend to portray women who are having sex outside of relationships negatively,' said Montemurro, the author of Something Old, Something Bold; an examination of the intriguing world of pre-wedding rituals in America.And while the media often portray marriage as largely sexless, the participants in the study said that sex was an important part of their marriage,Ms Montemurro interviewed women from September 2008 to July 2011, with each interview generally lasting 90 minutes.'For the women I interviewed, they seemed to say you need love in sex and you need sex in marriage,' said Ms Montemurro.(dailymail.co.uk)Bakudaily.Az
