Naked avatars – both male and female – are tormenting others using a series of add-on game modifications.One particular mod allows gamers to do ‘naughty stuff’ and ‘very naughty stuff’, which includes ‘sexually abusing’ others.This allows users to kidnap others, attach avatars to other players and force them to ‘f*ck the air’, as some gamers refer to it.Mods like this can give users control of other players as well.In some cases a troll user can simulate thrusting another avatar and using an invincibility setting to ensure the other player is powerless to move away.Others have reported being made to pole dance, engage in prostitution or have been blown up or electrocuted.Videos of these ‘rapes’ have appeared on YouTube and other online gaming forums.While some claim the attacks are ‘funny’, others have criticised its depiction and trivialisation of sexual violence.One wrote: ‘People like you are the reason why everyone has a problem with GTA.‘If you think this is funny it’s not, all you are doing is ruining the experience for everyone else.‘Why don’t you just put the controller down and do something productive with your life?’A virtual ‘rape victim’ wrote on Reddit: ‘You cannot kill him and there is nothing you can do about it.
