Plane fails to land in Russia's Yakutsk due to broken landing gear

An An-24 aircraft, operating on the Olekminsk-Yakutsk route, was unable to land due to landing gear malfunction, according to Russia's Yakutia Rescue Service, reported from TASS.

"At 13:15 local time, the Yakutia Rescue Service duty officer received a call - an An-24 aircraft operating on the Olekminsk-Yakutsk route cannot land at Yakutsk airport. The Polar Airlines aircraft was scheduled to land at 13:15. The reason is landing gear malfunction," the message states.

Later, the regional rescue service announced that the aircraft landed safely at the airport.

"At 13:32, the alarm previously declared due to the landing gear malfunction of the An-24 aircraft at Yakutsk airport was canceled," the message noted.

There were 34 passengers and 5 crew members on board the aircraft.
