Vance says Hormuz Strait will remain free of transit fees
U.S. Vice President JD Vance said he was confident that no transit fees would be imposed for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
“I am quite confident that the Strait of Hormuz will be free of fees,” Vance said in an interview with journalist Michael Knowles.
Vance said the United States still had “many levers of influence” over Iran to ensure that the situation with Tehran is resolved in a way that serves U.S. objectives.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s key routes for oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, making any discussion of possible restrictions or fees closely watched by energy markets.
