A letter to Putin by Armenian party leader

The lady in the picture above is Ani Zakharyan, the “president” of the NewPolitical Culture Party of Armenia. This is how she identifies herself in amessage to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zakharyan calls on Putin to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as Armenianterritory, claiming that the region was part of the “Great Armenia” before thesecond century BC. Armenian king Tigran even built a town, Tigranakert, nearAgdam, she says.

It is quite normal for a woman with such a hairstyle to assume that everything related to Karabakhcan be taken back to the second century BC. 

In the message toVladimir Putin, Zakharyan urges the Russian leader to recognizeNagorno-Karabakh as an independent state on the basis of a certain Americanconvention of 1933 that was allegedly signed by heads of Latin American states.

Again, I think a womanwith such a good appearance may not quite understand that Nagorno-Karabakh is aplace far off Latin America, which is also known as South America.Nagoro-Karabakh is nowhere close to North America either.

I am confident thatZakharyan will certainly draw Putin’s attention. The Russian president will carefullyread her message, especially the paragraph below.

Never mind the wholehost of spelling and other grammatical mistakes in the letter. Minor mistakesby a beautiful woman like Ani, who seems to be an avid reader of world historyand geography, can be overlooked.

“Поскольку даже если Украина взяла политический курс в Европу, это не значит, чтоможно сказать РФ давай досвидания. Я считаю это неполитическим шагом, поскольку РФ играет важнейшую роль и позицию в политике мира вообще и вас ясчитаю сильным лидером, а сильных людей я люблю».

Translation: “Eventhough Ukraine has adopted a policy of integration into Europe, that does not mean to say “davay dosvidaniya” (see you, goodbye) to the Russian Federation.It would not have been the right political move, I believe, because Russiastill plays the most important role in world politics. I consider you a strongleader and I love strong leaders.”

I left the style ofthe letter and its spelling mistakes unchanged in a sign of particular respect forthe Armenian party “president”.
