Iranian authorities said they had detained more than 1,400 people accused of acting against the Islamic Republic, including more than 700 supporters of restoring the monarchy who were allegedly active online.

Iranian media said about 400 people were arrested on accusations of information cooperation and sharing images of operational activity, while more than 100 others were detained over alleged links to armed and terrorist groups. Authorities also said 85 people were arrested on accusations of cooperating with Israel and the United States.

Reuters reported in March, citing state news agency IRNA, that Iran had arrested 466 people over online activity it said undermined national security, and that the total number of such detentions had exceeded 1,000 since the campaign began.
