Azerbaijani wrestlers win 13 medals at European championships

Azerbaijani wrestlers won 13 medals at the European Championships in Tirana, including five golds, two silvers and six bronzes.

On the final day of the tournament, Ali Tsokayev won gold in the men’s freestyle 92 kg category, while Giorgi Meshvildishvili became European champion at 125 kg.

Turan Bayramov took silver at 74 kg and Arsenii Dzhioev won silver at 86 kg.

Earlier, Greco-Roman wrestlers Hasrat Jafarov and Gurban Gurbanov won gold, while freestyle wrestler Islam Bazarganov also became European champion.

Bronze medals went to Rashad Mammadov, Nihat Mammadli, Islam Abbasov, Jabrail Gadzhiev, Jalya Aliyeva and Gunay Gurbanova.

Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestling team finished first in the team standings.
