Rights groups say Iran has executed over 600 people so far this year
Iran has executed at least 612 people in the first four months of the year, according to the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center.
The group said 15 executions, including cases with political charges, were recorded in the past three weeks. It added that internet restrictions and a lack of transparency in Iran’s judicial system make it difficult to document cases, meaning the real number may be higher.
Separately, a man accused of involvement in an armed group was executed in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province, judiciary-linked Mizan News Agency reported.
According to a joint report by Iran Human Rights and Together Against the Death Penalty, at least 1,639 people were executed in Iran in 2025, the highest annual figure since 1989.
