Iran’s Araghchi says neighbours remain priority after Oman talks
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said talks in Oman focused on regional developments and ways to ensure safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz, adding that ties with neighbouring countries remained a priority for Tehran.
In a post on X after the visit, Araghchi said: “Our neighbors are our priority.” He said discussions in Oman covered bilateral issues and regional developments and, as the only two littoral states on the Strait of Hormuz, Iran and Oman also discussed safe transit “for the benefit of all dear neighbors and the world.”
Reuters reported that Araghchi met Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said in Muscat on April 26 and discussed security in the Strait of Hormuz and broader Gulf waters, as well as diplomatic efforts related to the Iran-U.S. conflict.
The Oman stop was part of a regional tour that also included Pakistan and Russia.
