Trump says German chancellor failed to counter his argument on Iran
01.05.2026 11:30

U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed in an interview with Newsmax that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was unable to present an argument during a discussion on Iran.

“He was criticizing me on the Iran issue. I asked: ‘Do you want Iran to have nuclear weapons?’ He said no. Then I said: ‘So I’m right.’ He had no answer to that,” Trump stated.

Trump added that the U.S., Europe, and Middle East countries should not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons and said he believes such an operation should have been carried out earlier.
