Araghchi calls U.S. Hormuz plan “Project Deadlock”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there was no military solution to the crisis around the Strait of Hormuz and described Washington’s “Project Freedom” initiative as “Project Deadlock”.
“Events in Hormuz make clear that there’s no military solution to a political crisis,” Araghchi wrote on X.
He said talks with the United States were making progress through Pakistan’s efforts, while warning Washington and the UAE against being dragged back into a “quagmire” by what he called “ill-wishers”.
“Project Freedom is Project Deadlock,” Araghchi wrote, referring to the U.S. initiative aimed at securing the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier announced “Project Freedom” to help commercial ships move through the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.
