Russia to continue developing ties with Armenia
Russia’s ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, said Moscow intends to continue developing relations with Armenia despite geopolitical changes and Yerevan’s deepening ties with the West.
He said Russia remains Armenia’s key trade and economic partner and a guarantor of the country’s energy and food security.
Kopyrkin also said Armenia’s growing cooperation with the European Union and Western countries creates risks for Armenian-Russian relations amid what he described as the EU’s “hostile course” toward Russia.
The remarks come amid worsening ties between Moscow and Yerevan following the 2023 events in Karabakh and Armenia’s expanding cooperation with the EU and the United States.
