Turkey completes preparations to launch direct trade with Armenia
Turkey’s foreign ministry said it had completed bureaucratic preparations to launch direct trade with Armenia as part of a normalisation process that has been under way since 2022.
The ministry said all necessary bureaucratic procedures had been completed as of May 11, 2026, while technical and bureaucratic work on opening the common border was continuing.
Under the new regulation, goods shipped from Turkey to Armenia via third countries, or arriving by the same route, may now list “Armenia/Turkey” as the final destination or country of origin.
Ankara said it would continue to support economic ties and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
