Europe to receive 80% of LNG from U.S. by 2028
European countries could import up to 80% of their liquefied natural gas from the United States by 2028, according to a report by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA).
Analysts warned that such reliance on a single supplier could pose risks to Europe’s energy security as the EU moves away from Russian gas.
Reuters reported that the U.S. share of EU LNG imports had already risen to 60% in January 2026 from 53% a year earlier.
