Tsarukyan’s party calls supporters to Armenia’s election commission
Armenia’s opposition Prosperous Armenia party, led by Gagik Tsarukyan, has called on its supporters to gather outside the Central Election Commission as disputes over the parliamentary election results continue.
Armenian media reported that the rally was linked to opposition demands for a review of the vote and an investigation into alleged electoral violations.
Several opposition groups have challenged the outcome of the June parliamentary election. The Strong Armenia alliance has already filed a petition with the election commission seeking to annul the results, citing alleged irregularities.
International observers said the voting process was generally well organized and transparent at most polling stations, although they noted some shortcomings.
The Armenian authorities have not yet commented on the planned gathering outside the election commission.
