U.S. considers transfer of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey
The U.S. administration is considering the transfer of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey and is working with Congress on the issue, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said.
Vance said the administration, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, was reviewing whether Turkey meets the requirements of U.S. law needed for such a transfer.
“The president has asked us to work on this,” Vance said during President Donald Trump’s meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House.
He said the matter essentially depended on Congress and on whether Turkey complied with the legal conditions required to receive the F-35 aircraft.
