U.S. says it hit more than 80 targets in Iran
U.S. Central Command said American forces carried out a new round of strikes against Iran on July 7, hitting more than 80 targets with precision munitions.
CENTCOM said the strikes were launched in response to what it described as Iranian attacks on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The targets included Iranian air defence systems, command-and-control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities and more than 60 small boats belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, CENTCOM said.
The U.S. military said Iran had recently attacked three commercial vessels in the strait — the Marshall Islands-flagged M/T Al Rekayyat, the Saudi Arabia-flagged M/T Wedyan and the Liberian-flagged M/T Cyprus Prosperity.
