Norway and England will meet at a World Cup for the first time. Norway, one of the surprise teams of the tournament, beat Ivory Coast and Brazil on their way to the quarter-finals. England advanced after wins over DR Congo and Mexico.
Argentina and Switzerland will meet at a World Cup for the third time, with Argentina winning both previous encounters. The defending champions continue their bid for a second consecutive title.
Of the eight remaining teams, six represent Europe, one South America and one Africa. After the elimination of the United States, Canada and Mexico, all remaining matches will be played in the United States.
