Trump says Iran not ready for deal, U.S. should continue military action

U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran was not yet ready to reach an agreement with Washington and that the United States should continue its military campaign against Tehran.

“We’re doing very well against the Islamic Republic of Iran. We’re doing extremely well,” Trump said at an event in Washington. “They would like to do something. They’re not ready yet. They need more of the same, but more. They’re not ready.”

Trump said Tehran continued to harbour hostile intentions and reiterated that the United States could not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. His remarks came as fighting continued and U.S. lawmakers debated efforts to restrict the president’s authority to pursue further military action without congressional approval.
