Pezeshkian says U.S. memorandum will strengthen Iran and regional security

Pezeshkian says U.S. memorandum will strengthen Iran and regional security
03.08.2026 09:59

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said a memorandum signed with the United States would strengthen the security of Iran, the region and Tehran’s allies.

“This memorandum enhances the security of our country, the region and our allies,” Pezeshkian wrote on X. He called for efforts to compel Washington to honour its commitments.

Pezeshkian said the document was the result of a collective decision by members of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and had their support. He expressed hope that it would become a focal point of Iran’s future foreign relations.

Iran and the United States signed a preliminary memorandum in June aimed at ending hostilities and opening negotiations on a final agreement. It provides for an extension of the ceasefire and talks on Iran’s nuclear programme and broader regional de-escalation.
