Jared Kushner set to visit Israel to discuss next phase of Gaza plan — Axios

Jared Kushner, son-in-law to US President Donald Trump, is scheduled to visit Israel next week to hold high-level talks on the security architecture in the Gaza Strip, news portal Axios reported citing sources.

According to the outlet, the White House and the US-backed Gaza Peace Council are preparing to advance to the next stage of their broader framework. This phase will focus on the disarmament of Hamas formations and the potential withdrawal of Israeli military forces. Kushner is expected to travel alongside the Peace Council's representative for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior Israeli leadership.

Axios notes that the Netanyahu administration remains deeply skeptical of the US blueprint, with domestic political sensitivities heightened ahead of Israel's parliamentary elections scheduled for October. "We have the same strategic goals, but Israel has raised certain concerns regarding the plan, and we want to ensure direct coordination between both sides," a US official stated, adding that Kushner’s regional itinerary may also include stops in other Middle Eastern capitals.
