Azerbaijan’s aggregate public debt is projected to reach 27.604 billion AZN by January 1, 2027, according to estimates provided by the Ministry of Finance to APA-Economics.

The Ministry's baseline projections indicate that external public debt will stand at $4.833 billion, while domestic sovereign debt is projected to reach 19.387 billion AZN.

During the first half of 2026, debt servicing costs accounted for 5.6% of total state budget expenditures, remaining well within the statutory 10% ceiling established by the Medium- and Long-Term Debt Management Strategy.

Maturity structure estimates project that by early 2027, 59.5% of external debt will be due within 5 years, 34.9% across a 5-to-10-year period, and 5.6% over a horizon exceeding 10 years. Concurrently, government securities issued on the local capital market will comprise 55.3% of domestic debt, with 51% carrying maturities of up to 5 years and 49% maturing in 5 years or longer.
