Azerbaijan is London's key South Caucasus partner for years to come
British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Duncan Norman has stated that the South Caucasus holds paramount importance for London, identifying Azerbaijan as one of the United Kingdom's core strategic partners in the region.
Norman emphasized that the UK's regional engagement centers on fostering peace and sustainable prosperity: "Stability in the region is essential for us. We welcomed the milestones achieved a year ago at the Washington summits and the substantial steps made along the road to peace." He noted that a lasting peace settlement will unlock transformative economic expansion and regional connectivity across Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia.
Highlighting a bilateral track record spanning more than three decades since BP signed the historic "Contract of the Century," Norman pointed out that UK-Azerbaijan cooperation has expanded far beyond traditional hydrocarbons to encompass regional security, economic diversification, and renewables, particularly wind energy initiatives.
