Armenian official Alen Simonyan described statements by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev as "inappropriate and overly aggressive."

"I believe the reaction coming from Moscow, particularly from Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, is inappropriate and excessively hostile," Simonyan said during an appearance on TV Rain (Dozhd).

He emphasized that Yerevan expects Moscow to understand Armenia's pursuit of new economic and logistical pathways.

"We would like our Russian colleagues to understand our situation, because we do not intend to remain in an economic and military deadlock. We need alternatives. This concerns the very survival of our country, an imperative that is beyond question. We must secure access to markets. We have no intention of sacrificing our statehood, our country, or our people," Simonyan stated.
