High-Profile Arrests Loom for Former Separatist Generals in Armenia
28.08.2026 15:03

Armenian law enforcement agencies are preparing a new wave of high-profile arrests targeting former senior military figures of the defunct separatist regime, the local newspaper Iravunk reported.

Citing sources within the ruling Civil Contract party, the outlet stated that criminal cases will be launched against former high-ranking military officials who control various corporate and business assets in Armenia. Specific names have not yet been disclosed.

The anticipated proceedings follow an escalating post-election crackdown across Armenia's political opposition. Authorities have already placed Prosperous Armenia party leader Gagik Tsarukyan and several associates under investigation, while former president Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son were recently arrested under newly launched criminal charges.
