Pashinyan: Russian Military Base Not Vital for Armenia

Armenia does not consider the presence of the Russian 102nd Military Base on its territory to be a vital necessity, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated. 

According to the prime minister, the potential withdrawal of the installation has not yet been formally raised with Moscow. 

"If the Russian Federation decides to withdraw the base, we will not object; if it decides to keep it, we are ready to discuss it," Pashinyan said.

Addressing his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, Pashinyan noted that both sides agreed to conduct an "inventory" of bilateral ties to clearly identify shared viewpoints alongside persistent policy disagreements between Yerevan and Moscow.
