Education Council condemns hijab politicization attempts
The Education Council Public Union has voiced serious concern over attempts to manipulate the issue of the hijab to fuel socio-political friction, targeting public stability, religious tolerance, and national values, AZERTAC reported. The organization underscored that Azerbaijan is a secular and constitutional state guaranteeing religious freedoms, but warned that exploiting faith or dress codes as political leverage to engineer societal discord and serve foreign agendas is unacceptable.
The union emphasized that foreign-funded initiatives aimed at unsettling domestic harmony are bound to fail against public solidarity and state resolve. Reaffirming that schools and universities must remain free from political intrigue and radical influences, the council urged foreign entities to refrain from internal interference, while calling upon educators, scholars, and parents to preserve civic unity and state interests.
