Baku taxi driver jailed for carrying Kalashnikov rifle in car

A Baku taxi driver has been sentenced to one year in prison for carrying a Kalashnikov rifle in his car, Qafqazinfo reported.

Police stopped a Changan Qiyuan A05 driven by V. Musayev, born in 1991, on Gara Garayev Avenue in Baku’s Nizami district.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found an AK-74 Kalashnikov rifle, a magazine and six cartridges. The weapon and ammunition were seized.

A criminal case was opened by the Interior Ministry’s Main Department for Combating Organized Crime.

The court found that Musayev had been transporting Arab tourists visiting Baku.

He was found guilty and sentenced to one year in prison.
