Turkish Carriers Cancel Moscow Flights Amid Widespread Russian Airspace Disruptions

Major Russian aviation hubs, including Moscow's Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Domodedovo airports, alongside Pulkovo in St. Petersburg and Sochi, have reported extensive flight cancellations and hours-long delays following temporary airspace security restrictions implemented overnight on September 2.

Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus cancelled its early-morning Bodrum–Moscow flight (PC1456) and grounded scheduled departures from Vnukovo to Istanbul, Bodrum, and Dalaman. Passengers were informed that flights were suspended due to airspace closure risks. Additional cancellations from Moscow included Turkish Airlines services to Istanbul, Nesma Airlines to Sharm el-Sheikh, and Shirak Avia to Yerevan.

The disruptions have severely impacted routes connecting Kaliningrad, Sochi, St. Petersburg, and Antalya, with hundreds of domestic and international flights stranded. The flight grounding follows heightened security measures over increasing drone activity in Russian airspace.
