First Tanker of Russian Diesel Bound for U.S. to Depart October 22
The first tanker transporting Russian diesel fuel to the United States is scheduled to depart on October 22, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. The shipment carries 40,000 tonnes of fuel.
Novak stated that Russia will work within its capacity to help satisfy U.S. domestic diesel demand, adding that further shipments are slated for the near future.
The arrangement follows an October 9 telephone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, after which Trump publicly announced that Russia had agreed to supply diesel to the U.S. and international markets.
