Expert: Demand for Azerbaijani gas will continue to grow
25.01.2023 15:30
Demand for Azerbaijani gas will continue to grow, Julian Bowden, a senior fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES).

"In the short term, it will be difficult for Azerbaijan to increase gas supplies, but demand for it increased by 4% in 2021, and is expected to continue to grow further as Karabakh recovers,” Julian Bowden said, adding that in the long term, for example from 2029, there are many opportunities to expand gas exports.

"In the case of expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), there is some prospect of increasing export volumes. Azerbaijan should make it clear when it is going to commit to doing so,” Bowden added.

The expert also stressed that gas plays a role in the transition period as a bridge to a green future for the EU.
