Azerbaijan’s SOCAR in talks with Rosneft on new refinery

Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR is in talks with Russia’s Rosneft on construction of an oil refinery near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, Energy and Industry Minister Natiq Aliyev said.

“We are interested (in the project). Talks are ongoing,” Aliyev said in an interview with Itar-Tass news agency.

Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin last week visited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and SOCAR CEO Rovnaq Abdullayev in Baku.
