Azerbaijan reduces import of fruit and vegetables

For the period from January to August 2014, Azerbaijan increased the export of vegetables and fruit by 34% compared to the same period of 2013 (168 million dollars Vs. 125 milliondollars) - the State Customs Committee said on its website. 

As of 1 October 2014, the share of fruit and vegetables in total exports of the country amounted to 0.97%, whereas it was equal to 0.96% on 1 September; 1.05% - on 1 January; and 0.69% - on 1 October, 2013. 

Meanwhile, the import of fruit and vegetables for the same period has decreased by 18.19%, i.e. 17 million 914.6 thousand dollars versus 21 million 898.9 thousand dollars in January-September 2013.

As of 1 October, the share of fruit and vegetables in total imports of the country equalled 0.27%, whereas it was 0.3% on 1 September; 0.27% on 1 January; and 0.27% on 1 October, 2013. 

In 2013, Azerbaijan reduced exports of fruit and vegetables by 5.13%, imports - by half. However, in 2012, exports increased by 14.29%, in 2011 - by 49.35%.
