Several Azerbaijani companies agreed to export food products to Moscow, which is seeking new suppliers after Russia banned European products in retaliation to economic sanctions.

A package of 48 agreements was signed today in Baku by companies in the presence of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin and Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Eyyubov.

Sobyanin said trade between the Russian capital and Azerbaijan has tripled in the past few years.

“The potential of Moscow’s markets allows us to increase the trade by 30 and even 300 times,” he said, according to Interfax news agency.

Sobyanin said there are big opportunities to supply Azerbaijani products to logistics centers in Moscow.

“I hope today’s agreements will bring the supply of (Azeri) agricultural products to Moscow to a new level,” Sobyanin said.

Sobyanin was also received by President Ilham Aliyev.
