Bakcell, the first Mobile Operator and The Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan will participate in the Annual International Coastal Cleanup campaign organized by The Coca-Cola Company, the world’s largest beverage company, to be held on September 20, 2014 in Baku.

Held globally on 20 September every year International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s largest volunteer effort that inspires action to remove trash and debris from waterways and helps change the behaviors that allowed these items to reach the water. Bakcell is happy to join this environmental action together with Coca-Cola.

“Bakcell is happy to join this initiative by The Coca-Cola company. Our volunteers will come together in this international environmental campaign to clean the coastal area of Caspian Sea. We are proud to be responsible corporate citizen and contribute to improvement of our community and environment in Azerbaijan” – said Mr. Richard Shearer, the CEO of Bakcell.

«Coca-Cola Company takes care of the welfare of society, protection of environment and the Planet. We are urging everyone wishing to make their contribution in cleaning Caspian seaside to come and participate in this wonderful event that is organized in Baku 5th time. It is not only about cleaning the seaside, but also valuing the natural environment and nurturing a culture of responsible and careful attitude towards the Nature”,- said Cem Becel, General Manager of Coca-Cola Bottlers Azerbaijan.

International Coastal Cleanup is a global environmental movement organized by the Ocean Conservancy and Coca-Cola supports this movement globally since 1995. The organization stresses the idea that what falls from human hands can be prevented by human hands. During 2013 Cleanup, nearly 650,000 participants globally cleaned 13,000 miles of coastline around the world.  More than 26 hectares of Caspian coast has been cleaned in the last 4 years and around 10 tons of litter and debris was collected with the help of volunteers from Coca-Cola, ADA University, National Olympic Committee, YARAT, ASAN Service, AmCham and other partners.

This year Bakcell joins the effort to drive environmental awareness and action for well-being of our environment and planet. Coca-Cola and Bakcell associates will record every item collected and will send it to Ocean Conservancy, which will then use the data to produce country based world report on the marine debris problem.

This year the Coastal Cleanup campaign will be organized in Buzovna district of Baku on September 20, 2014. All participating volunteers will be provided with transport, t-shirts, beverages, food and necessary equipment. Volunteers willing to participate in this campaign should call 436-90-67/436-85-09 or register on the campaign Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CCDCocaColaAz
