Azerbaijan oil exports via BTC steady in August
Azerbaijan exported almost 2.5 million tons of crude oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in August, the same as a year earlier, state energy company SOCAR said.
BTC delivered 19.57 million tons of Azeri oil in the first eight months of 2014, slightly down from 20.2 million tons year-on-year, according to SOCAR, which is a partner in BTC.
The pipeline also exported a combined 486,320 tons of Kazakh and Turkmen oil in August.
BTC partners also include British oil major BP, Statoil, Chevron and Exxon Mobil.
Kazakhstan resumed oil exports via BTC in October 2013.
Azerbaijan produced 24.9 million tons of oil in the first seven months of 2014, down from 25.5 million tons in the same period last year.
The country also uses two other pipelines - Baku-Supsa and Baku-Novorossiysk – and rail to export oil.
