A retired U.S. Army officer, David Slater, has pleaded guilty to leaking classified information about the Russia-Ukraine war via a foreign online dating platform, the Associated Press reported.

Slater, 64, retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2020 and later worked with top-secret materials at an Air Force base from August 2021 to April 2022. He attended briefings marked “Top Secret” and was arrested in March 2024.

Court documents say he passed sensitive data to a woman who claimed to be living in Ukraine. Her identity and possible affiliations remain unknown.

As part of a plea deal, two additional charges were dropped. Sentencing is scheduled for October.
