Zelenskiy firmly rejected the idea of territorial concessions
30.09.2025 16:30

Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg wrote in his memoirs that he discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy the possibility of ceding territory to end the conflict, Euractiv reported.

He cited Finland as an example, which gave up part of its territory to preserve independence.

“When I first hinted at a ‘Finnish solution’ for Ukraine, Zelenskiy firmly rejected any idea of territorial concessions,” Stoltenberg said.

He added that over time the Ukrainian president and his advisers became “less dismissive of concessions if new borders and Ukraine’s security were guaranteed by NATO membership.”
