Moscow, Baku and Tehran make no progress on North–South corridor project

A trilateral meeting in Baku between officials from Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia on the North–South transport and energy corridor ended without tangible results. Iran pressed for a formal commitment to guarantee at least 15 million tonnes of annual cargo.

Russia said it had started land acquisitions for the 163 km Rasht–Astara railway, with investments set to exceed €1 billion.

Azerbaijan is upgrading its rail network independently. T
