UAE to cover accommodation costs for stranded travellers

The United Arab Emirates has announced that it will cover the costs of accommodation for all travellers stranded in the country, citing Time Out Dubai.

Following the temporary closure of UAE airspace, all flights to and from the country have been cancelled – meaning many visitors have a longer than expected stay in Dubai.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the General Civil Aviation Authority revealed that the UAE will bear all hosting and accommodation costs for affected and stranded passengers during the ongoing situation.

The statement covered the wider plans by the authority to contain the repercussions of the developments taking place in the region.

It outlined that national carriers like Emirates and Etihad, plus airports including DXB, have handled more than 20,000 passengers affected by the rescheduling of flights in recent days.

Temporary accommodation has been provided, along with meals and refreshments, in addition to facilitating rebooking procedures in line with the approved operational plans.

The UAE’s national carriers, in coordination with the authorities, also managed a number of arriving and departing flights affected by operational circumstances.

Passengers have been transported to their destinations within the country, temporary accommodation was provided for transit passengers, and all regulatory procedures were completed in accordance with the approved frameworks.

The Authority confirmed that coordination between airports and airlines is ongoing to monitor flight statuses and reschedule services, supporting the safe and orderly resumption of operations as soon as conditions allow.

The GCAA also renewed its call on passengers to follow official updates through approved channels and to contact their respective airlines directly for any developments related to their flights.
