Iran-Oman talks on Strait of Hormuz shipping near completion

Talks between Iran and Oman over shipping in the Strait of Hormuz are in their final stage, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

“At the beginning of today’s cabinet meeting, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi presented a report on the current state of negotiations between Iran and Oman. He noted progress in the talks and said they had entered their final stage and were nearing completion,” according to a statement posted on Araqchi’s Telegram channel.

Iran’s Fars news agency earlier said Tehran had not agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. It said a report by Israel’s N12 television channel claiming that Iran had accepted a proposal by Qatari mediators to restore shipping was inaccurate.
