Safety inspections planned for direct Azerbaijan-US flights

Safety inspections will be conducted as a final step for opening direct flights from Azerbaijan to the U.S., Richard Morningstar, the U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan said.

The ambassador doesn't expect there to be problems; late summer or fall is very definitely possible for the opening of direct flights.

Morningstar said that the U.S. and Azerbaijan have made a lot of progress in the negotiations on opening direct flights.

He went on to add that the United States officials have worked very well with the State Aviation Authority, as well as Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).

Azerbaijan received official certification from the Federal Aviation Authority of the U.S. to start the flights.
