Commercial Vessel Catches Fire in Black Sea, 12 Crew Members Rescued
A fire broke out aboard the commercial vessel "PROGRESS IV" in Romania's exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea, leading to the successful rescue of all 12 crew members, the Informat portal reported.
The incident occurred on August 27 around 19:00 local time, approximately 32 kilometers off the coast of Sfântu Gheorghe. The vessel sustained severe damage and is presumed to have sunk. One crew member was injured during the incident.
Romanian President Nikos Dan stated that while the incident occurred within Romanian waters, the exact causes of the blaze remain undetermined. An official investigation is underway.
