Russian gas transit via Ukraine decreased by 7.6% during 4 months
Ukraine has not repaid the debt for Russian gas, Gasprom official representative Sergei Kupriyanov told journalists.
“The payment deadline expired in April, Ukraine’s overdue debt for Russian gas increased up to $3,508,000,” Kupriyanov said.
Press office of the Ukrtransgas – operator of the Ukrainian gas transportation system – reported that from January to April 2014 Russian gas transit to the Western Europe via Ukraine decreased by 7.64% against 2013 to 23,284,000,000 cub.m. From January to April 2014 gas transit to the CIS member-states increased by 15.64% up to 1,121,000,000 cub.m. Therefore, during 4 months, 2014 total gas transit via Ukraine reached 24,405,000,000 cub.m., down 6.78% against the same period in 2013.
Ukrtransgas reported that in April 2014 2.6 billion cub.m. of gas was imported to Ukraine, up 77% or 1.2 billion cub.m. against April 2013.
“Increase in the gas deliveries to Ukraine is connected with beginning of pumping of natural gas to the underground gas storages, which by May 5, 2014 already had about 9 billion cub.m. of gas,” reported Ukrtransgas press office.
