Shops close at most of metro stations in Azeri capital
Shops have closed at 21 stations of the Baku metro, said Aliabbas Bagirov, a spokesman for the trade and services department at the Baku Mayor’s Office.
In total, 1,194 shops will be demolished. Shopkeepers have been offered alternative places in several parts of the city, Bagirov said.
The demolition of shops has passed off without incidents so far, Bagirov said.
Several hundred vendors protested against the plan last week, saying the abrupt closure of their businesses was unacceptable.
