Facebook AI will put an end to drunken mistakes

Facebook AI will put an end to drunken mistakes

In the future an artificially intelligent Facebook will warn you of the potential for embarrassment when you try to upload pictures after a few drinks.

According to the head of Facebook’s Artificial Intelligence Research lab the smart system will be able to see when you are uploading something that you may later come to regret and say: "Uh, this is being posted publicly. Are you sure you want your boss and your mother to see this?”

Yann LeCun, who is also a researcher at New York University, wants to use a process known as "deep learning” to differentiate between your drunk and sober self. It will analyse images for tell-tale signs that you may not be thinking at your most clear, and suggest that you refrain from posting updates or uploading photographs.

A similar approach is already used to identify individuals in photographs posted to Facebook, making tagging them easier by prominently suggesting names of those it believes to be present.

"You need a machine to really understand content and understand people and be able to hold all that data,” LeCun told Wired. "That is an AI-complete problem.”
