Tanap “most important” project for Turkey, ambassador says

The planned Trans-Anatolia natural gas pipeline (Tanap) is the "most important” energy project for Turkey despite a recent agreement with Russia to build a new gas pipeline under the Black Sea, Turkey’s ambassador in Baku Ismayil Alper Coskun said.
Alper said work on Tanap is progressing.
Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR holds 70 percent of the pipeline to export Shah Deniz gas to Europe via Turkey.
Turkey’s state pipeline company BOTAS holds 30 percent of the project.
BP is expected to buy 12 percent equity in Tanap from SOCAR by the end of the year.
