FIFA fires Chief Operating Officer Lamour following public criticism of President Infantino — Sky News
World football governing body FIFA has dismissed its Chief Operating Officer, Lamour, following his public opposition to policies spearheaded by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Sky News reported, according to Vesti.az.
FIFA has not publicly disclosed the formal contractual terms surrounding his dismissal.
In July, Lamour openly rejected Infantino’s controversial project to sell a commercial stake in World Cup rights to private investment entities. He accused FIFA leadership of a lack of transparency throughout the deal’s preparation, asserting that federation staff had been "deceived" and deserved "better than contempt and intimidation."
Lamour’s exit follows closely on the heels of the resignation of Infantino's senior adviser Carlos Cordeiro, who also stepped down in protest of the commercial plans while urging other senior executives across the organization to voice their opposition.
