27.09.2016 10:01
The referendum on amending Azerbaijan’s Constitution held in Sept.26 considered legitimate, Mazahir Panahov, Central Election Commission (CEC) head, told reporters in Baku Sept. 27.

He noted that 3,671,707 (69.7 percent) people have voted in the constitutional referendum in Azerbaijan.

Officially, no complaints have been filed to the Central Election Commission. The referendum on amending Azerbaijan’s constitution has been held transparently. International and local observers noted the active voter turnout in the referendum, he added.

Panahov said the Central Election Commission ensured the conduct of the voting in accordance with law.

The referendum on making amendments to Azerbaijan’s Constitution kicked off at 08:00 and wrapped up at 19:00 (UTC/GMT + 4 hours) Sept 26.

As many as 117 international observers – MPs from over 30 countries as well as observers from various international organizations, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) – have been accredited by Azerbaijan’s CEC to observe the referendum. The total number of the observers is around 53,000.
